Clinton Campaign Manager Steps Down

Patti Solis Doyle Out
as Clinton Campaign Manager

After three big victories Saturday for Sen. Barack Obama in Nebraska, Washington and Louisiana, Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, Patti Solis Doyle, is stepping down. She will be replaced by longtime Clinton loyalist Maggie Williams, who worked in the Clinton White House for the senator when she was first lady.

Williams was brought on to the campaign after the New Hampshire primary.

"They're obviously bringing in the heavier guns for the final push," said Democratic consultant Joe Mercurio. "They seem to be in a fair amount of trouble here"

Solis Doyle will reportedly remain with the campaign as a senior advisor.

Ahead of three contests Tuesday in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia, the campaign shake-up comes at a critical time.

"I would imagine there's more going on than this," Mercurio said, anticipating the potential for more staff moves in the coming days.
