Gov. Brad and X-Speaker has extra Cash on Hand

Gov. Brad Boy, 2006 campaign raised nearly $5 million, still has $459,290 on hand.

About $41,000 went to charitable donations.

Gov. Brad Boy, cannot by law cannot seek a third term, has some options for spending surplus funds.

Those include: giving them to the state, returning them to donors, giving to charity, running for state office, or transferring $5,000 a year to a state or local political party.

He can NOT use them to run for federal office or donate them to other candidates.

X-House Speaker Lance Cargill, who stepped down last week, has raised nearly $250,000 in his re-election bid.

X-House Speaker Cargill, R-Harrah, raised $40,900 during the most recent reporting period from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31.

X-House Speaker Cargill, elected to the House in 2000, has spent $146,843, including $32,370 in the last three months of 2007, reports show.

X-House Speaker Cargill has $128,827 avail-able in campaign funds, reports show. He spent $498,936 on his 2006 campaign.

Donors to Cargill's campaign during the most recent reporting period include lobbyist Bobby Stem, who gave $4,000; Enid businessman John Groendyke, $1,000; former Oklahoma City Mayor Kirk Humphreys, $1,000; Rep. Ron Johnson, R-Kingfisher, $1,000; and legislative consultant Jami Longacre, $1,000.

And giving $1,000 was Bill Case, a lobbyist and former state representative who provided transportation for Cargill and several other Republican state representatives to a fundraiser for GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. It was in the Dallas home of Gene Phillips, who allegedly bribed Oklahoma's ex-insurance commissioner, Carroll Fisher.
