2008: Bloomberg is the new Perot?

2008: Bloomberg is the new Perot?
JANUARY 16, 2008

Michael Bloomberg, current New York City Mayor, fresh off looking over Fred Thompson’s “success” as a late-declaring candidate seems poised to become an Independent Party candidate.

In the dying days of the Unity ‘08 effort, Bloomberg was the name that seemed to come up often by its leaders (but not by those citizens participating).

Bloomberg, who has easily switched party caps for the home team, seems widely poised to become the reincarnation of Ross Perot, another billionaire with a penchant for thin skin and hearing himself talk. One difference is, he’s a moderate on social issues and a mixed bag on economic issues.

What next, Mark Cuban?

A Draft Bloomberg campaign, separate from the man himself, has been launched to get their boy on ballots in all 50 states. Bloomberg has said his will be a self-funded campaign.
