I love that Senator McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running mate! This, imho, represents the continuation of true feminism. It is a chance for the women of the United States to see all of the perspectives of feminism. It is a chance for the American people to really review their thoughts on feminism. Is feminism simply a pro-choice outlook? I don't think so. I think there are a lot of women who believe a lot of different things and that true feminism is that women can be empowered by the choices they make, whether that is the choice to have a high-powered career, stay at home with her children and raise the wonderful and beautiful future, or do both and be successful on her own terms, whatever those terms may be. Personally, I think Sarah Palin is one who can symbolize that true feminism. She is, to me, a validation of my own sense of feminism. I have chosen to raise a family and have a career. My husband does more in the way of typical "mother" activities than some of the more traditional households but I also have very "traditional" values in that I like the idea of the United States of America, I like the idea that family is important (whatever your definition of family may be) and I do strive to grow in my spiritual faith. I respect the opinions of those that don't agree with me because I believe in the idea of free expression and I KNOW that we cannot overcome so many of the obstacles we face without finding our common ground and working towards solutions.
