of Small Business award to state Sen. Glenn Coffee.

The National Federation of Independent Business, Oklahoma's leading small business association, has presented state Sen. Glenn Coffee with its 2008 Guardian of Small Business award.

Sen. Coffee, who is president pro tempore of the Senate, represents the 30th District, which is comprised of part of Oklahoma County.

The Guardian of Small Business award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small business issues. NFIB/Oklahoma's Leadership Council voted to honor Sen. Coffee for his work in this year's legislative session.

"Small business is the heart Oklahoma's economy, and Glenn Coffee clearly understands that," said Benny Vanatta, state director of NFIB/Oklahoma.
"Throughout my time at the Legislature, I have been a strong supporter of small business in Oklahoma," Sen. Coffee said. "I rally behind pro-business issues because I have seen first hand how the success of our state's businesses positively impacts Oklahoma families.

"Defending and promoting small business was a large motivation for me to run back in 1998, and it's gratifying to see some successes now," he said. "I am honored to receive such an award from the National Federation of Independent Business and am encouraged by the work they do for our state."
