A report out Thursday from the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press finds that liberals watch far more campaign videos and read far more political blogs than do conservatives, by a very wide margin.

The report found that 43% of liberal Democrats read political blogs, compared to only 22% of conservative Republicans. Twenty-seven percent of Independents read political blogs, it concludes. Overall, 30% of Democrats and 23% of Republicans read blogs.

Similarly, 60% of liberal Democrats have watched some form of campaign video (which includes debates, commercials, and so on), while only 33% of conservative Republicans have done so.

In general Democrats use the Internet far more than Republicans to get political information. For example, some 12% of Democrats have gotten campaign information from social networking sites, says the report, while 7% of Republicans have, and 5% of Independents.

The report examined overall interest and participation of voters in the campaign, including donating money, and going to political events. Clearly, liberals are much more engaged than conservatives. The report concludes:

By almost any measure of political interest or activity, liberal Democratic voters are more strongly connected to this election than are conservative Republicans or other voters.
