Today is is voter registration deadline for House 55 special primary elections

The state Election Board says TODAY is the deadline for registering to vote in the Sept. 8 special primary elections for a vacant state House seat.

Democrats Larry Peck of Sentinel and Alex Damon of Cordell and Republicans Todd Russ of Cordell and Jeff Ledford of Hobart are running for the District 55 seat in western Oklahoma.

The Election Board says people who are not registered to vote but want to vote in one of the primaries must submit a voter registration application before the deadline.

Rep. Ryan McMullen, D-Burns Flat, resigned from the seat last month after being appointed state director of rural development with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Winners of the primaries will meet in a general election on Oct. 13.

Dirty little secrets of same day voter registration

Dirty little secrets of same
day voter registration

by Jan Tyler,
Denver Election Reform Examiner

Registration and voting should be easy!

If registration and voting are not easy, voters are disenfranchised! More voters would vote if registration and voting were not so hard.

Same-day voter registration. Give it to me! I'm entitled to it! I pay taxes (probably not income taxes though)!
Easy registration and voting does not
improve voter turnout.
Substantial research by the London School of Economics and American University indicates that easy voting measures - same day voter registration, early voting and mail ballots - do not improve voter turnout except in certain states.

Minnesota and eight other states have same-day voter registration. In January, both houses of Congress will consider legislation to federalize same day voter registration. It will cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Right now registration rates exceed 80%. We will spend hundreds of millions of dollars to make registration easier for 20% of the population.

Besides the cost, what is wrong with letting the Federal government take over our election systems? I like to point out how elections work in Kazakhstan, a dictatorship faking democracy.

The Constitution leaves the time and manner of elections to the states. There will be opposition to federalizing what historically has been a states' rights issue.

A dirty little secret - most of those ten or fifteen academics in cahoots with activists who convinced everyone to junk millions of dollars worth of voting machines were disgruntled Gore supporters from 2000. As a so called voting integrity activist, an election administration coup by the Federal government should scare you more than the Supreme Court deciding an election.

Outrage won't come from the Democrats. Funny thing happened on the way to election reform. The Democrats are all over it, while the Republicans are shuffling off their Buffaloes. I'm not even sure the Republicans understand how elections are actually run. That would explain why they just react, instead of being proactive on issues like the mounting same day registration movement.

I wouldn't depend on the Republicans to defend our election systems against same day voter registration.

Until the Pentagon or some other agency invents a fail safe way to assure voter's eligibility, including current residency, same day voter registration should be left up to the states'.

States with same day voter registration find it is not problem free, as the media would have you believe. Significant problems exist, including nonresident's voting in local elections and inability to verify voter eligibility.

ElectionNeutralityNow's main objection is the partisan nature of enacting federal legislation clearly benefiting one party. Even if it is your party benefiting, what about when you aren't in control?

Are you willing to denigrate our election systems to benefit 20% of the population? Why not empower those voters by educating them to their civic responsibility.

Of course, if you like the government of Kazakhstan, perhaps you want to take responsibility for those citizen's votes?

More ACORN fraud found in Cleveland, OH

Hat Tip to Genn X

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections referred more 14 cases of potential voter registration fraud to the county prosecutor today as part of an investigation of suspicious registration cards submitted by ACORN.

The board voted on each case individually after reviewing copies of cards the registration department flagged as suspicious.

Of about 72,000 cards ACORN turned in this year, election workers found batches of cards with the same name but different addresses, mismatched signatures, or different Social Security numbers. More than 5,000 were missing information and could not be used. The board could not verify the address on 3,500 others.

The board referred four cases of potential registration fraud to the prosecutor last week. The county sheriff has subpoenaed employment records of 41 workers from ACORN’s Cleveland office.

A spokesman for Prosecutor Bill Mason said the investigation is ongoing. Charges have not been filed.

Rick Hasen on voting issues

Interview of Loyola Law School Professor and election law expert Richard Hasen by Newshour's Judy Woodruff, discussion of integrity of voting systems.

Rotten ACORN

Voter Registration Fraud DOES Lead to Voter Fraud
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 8:35 AM
The liberals defending ACORN's fraudulent voter registration efforts have said again and again voter registration fraud doesn't lead to voter fraud.

Well, we didn't have to wait till Election Day to find out they're wrong.

The Associated Press reported Friday that the New Mexico GOP found 28 people who voted fraudulently in Albuquerque during the June Democratic primary by absentee ballot. One of the ballots was cast from someone named "Duran-Duran"

The GOP's review was conducted in House District 13 and only included 92 ballots. That means roughly a third of the ballots examined were fraudulent.

This is a bombshell. We now have undeniable proof that a significant number of fraudulent voters were cast in Democrat primary races for the New Mexico state legislature as a result of ACORNs voter registration fraud, said State Representative Justine Fox Young (R.-Albuquerque). No longer can ACORN argue that their phony voter registration forms dont translate into fraudulent votes. They do and today we can prove it.

ACORN Fraud in New Mexico - Duran Duran Registered and Votin

An investigation in New Mexico has revealed problems with 92 ACORN registrations in a Bernalillo County House District. Among the 92, investigators found a registration submitted for 80’s pop sensation Duran Duran.

At a press conference today, the New Mexico Republican Party provided evidence showing that at least 28 of those registrants had cast ballots in the state primary.

The Bernalillo County Clerk had recently forwarded more than 1,100 ACORN registrations to state and federal authorities for criminal investigation.

San Diego begins investigation into ACORN activities

An liberal activist group that is being investigated by the FBI for suspected voter fraud in at least eight states is now under investigation here in San Diego.

Accusations against ACORN include attempts to register voters under the names of the deceased and Disney characters.

San Diego's Registrar of Voters is taking steps to fight the possible fraud.

While investigators determine whether ACORN's problem is a conspiracy to commit voter fraud or just a few "problem workers" looking to pad their paychecks--as ACORN representatives claim--the group's registration of thousands of voters in San Diego is now suspect.

According to the Registrar's office, ACORN submitted more than 26,000 affidavits between January and September 2008, more than any other county in California. Some 4,600 affidavits were initially "red-flagged" for incomplete or invalid information, such as missing birthdays or bogus addresses.

Ultimately, about 7 percent of those questionable applications were rejected. Some were handed over to the Secretary of State's office for investigation.

The investigation is playing out in real-time in the presidential race, with the McCain campaign informing potential voters of Barack Obama's longstanding ties to the organization in Chicago.

A national spokesman for ACORN said it works to identify potentially fraudulent voter registrations by its employees and notifies election officials of any potential cases of fraud.

The national spokesman said that the problem is an issue of a few problem workers and not voter fraud.

News 8 tried unsuccessfully to speak with local ACORN representatives by phone and in person.

The 26,000 voter registration affidavits ACORN submitted between January and September 2008 represent less than 2 percent of San Diego County's 1.4 million voters.

Palin: Don't Turn The Buckeye State Into The ACORN State

Gov. Sarah Palin at her rally in West Chester, Ohio Friday, October 17, 2008:

"In this election, especially here in Ohio, you're going to be asked to choose between a candidate who will not disavow a group committing voter fraud and a leader who will not tolerate it. This group needs to learn that you, here in Ohio, you won't let them turn the Buckeye state into the ACORN state."

PA GOP sues ACORN

The Pennsylvania Republican Party is expected to file a lawsuit in Commonwealth Court against ACORN and the State Election Board. They will claim the State is not prepared to stop illegal votes from being cast through fraudulent registrations submitted by ACORN.
The lawsuit asks the court to require prospective voters who filed registration applications through ACORN that haven’t yet been processed to be required to vote by paper, provisional ballots in the Nov. 4 election.
There have been reports of ACORN fraud in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and yesterday it was reported that the FBI was conducting a nationwide investigation into ACORN’s voter registration problems.

Hat Tip to Jackie @ J Chiles Esq

This video was submitted to us by a concerned voter on the campus of Iowa’s Simpson College.

The reader identify’s the individual caught on tape as Jamie Corey, President of the Simpson College Democrats.
Interestingly enough Ms. Corey circulated an email to the student body regarding “rumors” circulating campus that she was attempting to influence voters inside the Warren County early vote location. Our reader obtained a copy of this email:

Legitimacy - America Threatened by Obama Acorn Relationship

Hat Tip to my friend Bill (OU Grad) @ ARRA News

America is about to be ruled by an illegitimate government founded on fraud and outright criminality.

Bill Wilson, Americans for Limited Government: All governments rise or fall on the degree to which the people find them legitimate. When the people no longer believe a government has gained power by legitimate means or that a government operates in an honest and legitimate manner, only force and intimidation maintains it. And as history has shown repeatedly, no amount of force or state-terror against the populous is ever enough to prevail.

True, brute thuggish tactics can hold off the will of the people for a long time. It worked for over 70 years in Russia, but only 12 in Nazi Germany. It has been effective in Cuba for nearly 50 years, but fell quickly in Cambodia.

One of the true strengths of the United States has been the accepted process for the peaceful transfer of power from one group of people to another. This process, elections held at regular intervals, has conferred that most precious of all commodities on the United States Government: legitimacy.

But in 2008, in a desperate drive for power, that most valuable of gifts from our Founding Fathers is being abused and discarded. Simply put, it is becoming more and more evident every day that the elections this year may not be legitimate, that the “winners” will not be able to claim they assumed office in a fair and open manner.

In short, we could be about to be ruled by an illegitimate government founded on fraud and outright criminality. All across America reports are coming in of obvious voter fraud. . . .

Community Voters Project Employee Charged for Submitting 54 Fake Registrations…Now Working For ACORN

A third voter registration worker is facing charges in Milwaukee for submitting fraudulent voter registration forms.

Community Voters Project Employee Frank Walton has been charged with submitting 54 bogus registrations including one for a man dead 16 years. According to WIBA Radio, CVP fired Walton after the City Election Commission discover only 16 of the 70 registrations he submitted were legitimate.
Walton told investigators he was expected to obtain at least 15 registrations per day for CVP. Walton also said he remembered interviewing the dead man, Joseph Scroggins, on Milwaukee’s south side - even though Scroggins’ widow said the man died in 1992.
Fortunately after parting ways with CVP Walton was down but not out:
Walton also told authorities he had been doing door-to-door voter surveys for The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN, since he left CVP.
ACORN denies Walton ever worked for them….

Another ACORN employee indicted for forgery. This time MI.

Add Michigan to the list of states prosecuting ACORN for forgery and voter registration fraud.

Michigan Atty. Gen. Mike Cox charged a former ACORN worker with forgery in connection with voter registration applications he submitted in the city of Jackson.

Antonio Johnson, 23, a convicted felon who is currently being held in Jackson County on a parole violation, is charged with six counts of forging a public document and faces up to 14 years on each count, Cox said in a news release. Johnson signed and submitted six voter registration applications, using two Jackson residents’ names, without their knowledge.

“This is an obvious case of forgery and that is why I am taking action today,” said Cox. “This office will not stand by while criminals interfere with the voting rights of Michigan citizens.”

Michigan is one of the 13 states where there are investigations into ACORN’s activities.

ACORN Under Investigation in Minnesota…Add another state to the list

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the Hennepin County Attorney’s office has opened an investigation into ACORN’s regisatration activities in MSP:
The Hennepin County attorney’s office said this afternoon that is investigating an allegation that an individual with the ACORN grass-roots community organization “did not fully comply with Minnesota voter registration rules.”

The investigation comes as ACORN today announced it had registered 43,000 new voters in Minnesota.
